Approaching lock 7 of the Widcombe flight. Also known as Bath Bottom Lock, it is at the junction of the River Avon and the K & A Canal a short distance before reaching Pulteney Bridge on the River with its U-shaped weir (photo on prev. blog page)Waiting for the team to prepare the lock
Beyond locks 8 and 9 which were combined to form a deep lock. This has a fall of over 19 feet which competes with Tuel Deep Lock on the Rochdale Canal for the deepest lock on the navigable waterways system.
The canal cuts into the hills above Bath with some grand views of the city
This tunnel carries Cleveland House, the old canal company's headquarters
John entering the Top Lock damage to which was the cause for the delay en route. We were lucky to get through when we did because it is still scheduled for a 2-week closure in order to complete the repairs.
Move over John, there is another boat to get in there next to you!!
Making headway beyond Bath. It was very crowded due to holiday boats and that it was Saturday, so progress was slow.
